Cookie Notice

The one cookie

• Name: the gallery session cookie.
• Purpose: it holds a signed token proving you took a key, so the room does not throw you back to the door on every page.
• Set by: us. First party. No third party can read it.
• Protections: HTTP-only, so page scripts cannot read it. Secure, so it never travels unencrypted. SameSite, so another site cannot ride on it.
• Lifetime: it expires on its own, and signing out deletes it immediately.

It is what the law calls strictly necessary: without it there is no signed-in state, and without a signed-in state there is no gallery. That is the reason this page exists instead of a banner asking your permission for something you cannot decline and still use the site.

Local storage

Two small preferences are kept in your browser’s local storage, not in a cookie, and they never leave your device:

• Your theme. Obsidian, Aurora, Sandstone, or Ivory, so the room looks the way you left it.
• Whether you have already opened the curtain this session, so nobody sits through the entry twice.

What is not here

No Google Analytics. No Meta pixel. No advertising network. No retargeting. No fingerprinting. No session recorder running on you. Nothing on this gallery follows you to another website, because nothing on this gallery is built to.

The showcase sites

The demonstration builds in the room ship with their measurement layer switched off, which is the correct default and almost nobody does it. Clicking through a showcase site does not set a tracking cookie. The analytics report inside the Sole Atlas showcase is a demonstration rendered from generated figures, and it says so on its own page.

Turning them off

Every browser lets you block or delete cookies and clear local storage. Block ours and the gallery will still load, but it will not be able to keep you signed in, so the room will stay locked. That is a consequence of how sign-in works, not a penalty.
